I Think It Is Going To Be Too Small

This is my first week participating in the Small Things Yarn Along!  So exciting! I can never get it together on Wednesdays, but this week I planned ahead. Take that, World.

Kitty’s Chemise is nearing the home stretch.  I am on the sleeves.

But I have this sinking feeling: I think it is going to be too small. At least in the bust. I had a itty bit hunch this would happen when I cast on, waffling between which size to go for. I need to learn to listen to my instincts better. Apparently they are right more than I am willing to admit.

I will let you know soon, possibly between bouts of sobbing. One of my teeny tiny girlfriends might get very, very lucky next week.

P.S. I am reading The Little Paris Bokshop: A Novel. More on that soon.

You never know – it may bloom when you block it! I’ll keep my fingers crossed 😉

I am hoping blocking will help, although I did block my swatch and it didn’t grow too much….

If you do end up giving it to your friend she will be thrilled and thank you forever and wear it with joy and you’ll be glad it was. And if it’s not too small you’ll get to wear it with pride, because it’s gorgeous. Either way, you win!

Oh, no let’s hope it fits! Gauge is a tricky thing isn’t it.

I got gauge…I think I might have just picked the wrong size to knit…it is my mind pretending I am thinner than I really am. I guess I shouldn’t have had that giant chocolate cookie for lunch…

Blocking can do wonders, so fingers crossed as it looks quite lovely!

Thanks. When I blocked my swatch, it didn’t grow much…but maybe I will give this one and extra long soak and mega stretch…stay tuned,

Welcome to Yarn Along! That is such a lovely sweater but I can see how fit is tricky. This is why I am afraid of sweaters — that whole fit issue. If you can’t block it out, you will certainly have a lucky friend!

Thanks. It was a lot of fun. My top did come out too small. Bummer. Now I just have to choose a lucky friend.

It is still stunning. And I think with some serious blocking, you might just get it to fit anyway. 🙂 All the best. I love the colour as well. It looks so warm.

I do hope it fits, fingers crossed! or you can figure out a way to fix it easily 🙂

I just got it off the needles…Too small. Wearable…but really too small. I will still do the Icord edging and blocking…see what comes…gift to a skinny friend. Oh well.

[…] Sizing! It’s too small! I can get it on. Barely. But it is too tight around the arm holes and not […]
